This is a sketch of Rachael that I did a few nights ago. I thought she looked so gorgeous that I had to draw her. smile There are also some others that I completed previously through the links. Enjoy!

Thanx Jerald.
Hopefully I'll be starting a new piece on her soon. I just had a look at your pieces and they're really great. You know they're the first pictures that I've seen seen which actually resemble her! Where can I see more? How long does it usually take to produce a piece?

Well, it takes me about 2-3 hours to do a drawing.

hahaha Thanx Jerald!
This is one of my favourite's at the moment. I use a ytpe of shading that I developed gradually over time. Like the clothes, all the shading is full of parallel lines, no cross hatching! After I do an initial layer of lines, i continue to go over them till I achieve the correct shade. With this piece I combined an element of 'smudging' to get that softer tone. However, you cannot see these minute lines on the posted piece, so in my opinion, it looks twice as good on the actual paper. I'd be interested to know your method Jerald. Your pictures have a very soft effect to them.

Well, I have a different method of making my shades look soft. First, on the darker shades(like the hair), the shading is also full of parallel lines. Then I smudge it with a cotton buds to make it look softer. Then I just use the excess charcoal on the cotton buds to to do the lighter shades. smile

Wow cotton buds. I've never actually thought of using them for some reason...I tend to generally use my fingers, because it's a lot more efficient for me. Usually, after the smudging, I go over the entire piece again with light lines. No reason for it really, but I think it looks alot better. Where are some more of your pics Jerald?? I just completed some Natalie Portman pics, but have decided to stop and take a break due to problems with my wrist. Anyway I hope to see some more pics from you Jerald!!
