I haven't seen it on "Entertainment Weekly". Wondering if "indies" are treated in a different way...
But there is one indie which is quite a sleeper hit: My Big Fat Greek Wedding. It wasn't announced and look what's happening: a blockbuster... I find Nia Vardalos quite cute (and Canadian BTW...)
I'll cross my fingers to a release of "Scorched" and be the first in line !
RealLiveClaude "It's cool if you like it, it's okay if you don't, just decide for yourselves..."
The number one problem with marketing a indie/small budget movie for silver screen release is always getting local distributors (tv networks, movie theatre chains) to bite, even after the festival circuit was a success. If you don't have a big studio backing you, it gets very difficult. Last i heard scorched was still battling to find distributors. They have howerer secured a couple of European distributors (RTL in germany , Vertigo in spain) and some others. (last i heard). If howerver they cant line up those local distributors, odds are it will go straight to video (easier to sell).
BTW. Winchester films has the worldwide distribution rights.

We all know how reliable release dates can be . Www.videoeta.com claims that American Crime will be released in the theaters(in the US) sometime in Nov. Www.movies.yahoo.com/upcoming (which is usually a reliable source of info) does not even mention it.
