I don't just listen to rape either, I like some rock, like Linkin Park, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, and more that I cant think of right now. I also listen to pop, and i like that one dixie chick song, "Landslide". Smile

I'd say good charlotte and sum 41 are pop punk, not rock. It's been a few years I think since a good rock band's been MTV popular. They seem to like running the pop punk and last year the boy bands into the public eye. I think they're going to try to make an 80's revival next (when the pop punk trend dies, it will start with MTV promoting the sounds or whatever they're called like they are starting to do now). Just my predictions in trends.

Geez, why do I care so much about someone I've never met? Rachael, maybe you're my Sally.

Oh BTW does anyone know if Rachael kept up with playing the guitar after doing JATP ?? As a guitar player myself I really admire Rachael, Tara and Rosario for learning to play their instruments convincingly (mostly Razz !) in such a short time - it takes a lot of patience to get the basics right so ladies you have my admiration !

I just checked the first post...finally someone who likes 30stm, other than me. Yes, I might've mistaken hip-hop for 50 cent (who needs to go far far away). I'd probably invite her to a Tool show with me if I ever met her. They're amazing. And when's stateside available in the US? Maybe I should visit Canada more...Canadians have all the good stuff

Chaos, Panic, Disorder - I see my work here is done.

Out of principle, just cause an artist or whatever is a sellout doesnt mean it isnt quality. May be more commercial, but it doesnt have to be rubbish. Just the same with taste. Just cause you and I dont like it, doesnt mean it aint good. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder remember?

Anyway, Ms.Cook is a fan of J5 so.. Heh, kickass.
And yes, thats hip hop. Proper old-school hip hop from the underground of the city of angels.
As good as it gets.

My first post by the way, hi.

Alex.

Sorry, but I think J5 is just "eh". They've got that old-school breakbeat sound which is ok but they're pretty cliche and their choruses are pretty cheesy. There's way better underground hip hop from L.A. and other parts of California(The Pharcyde, Blackalicious, the whole Hieroglyphics crew, Quannum) that makes J5 seem mediocore. But I guess J5 knows their audience which is mainly the white college crowd that listen to J5's portion of the "underground" and that's what they do.

As for Rock music, I do remember reading that she listens to Fugazi, which is a plus in my book.

You know, when I read your reply putting J5 down (I'm a die hard J5 fan) I couldnt believe what I read. I admit, I got a bit upset and I figured I'd kick your ass if I could. But, then I got myself some Blackalicious and now I just cant get enough of it. Its rougher, unpolished hip hop. Its no secret that J5 has been more commercialised the last few years, especially with the lauch of "Power in numbers" and comparing it with Blackalicious it becomes all to clear.

I'm not blinded by loyalties, not at all but J5 still is the better bunch for my taste.
Blackalicious.. Excellent nonetheless.

Rachael playing more guitar? HOO-YAH!!!

TR, is it acoustic or electric?

Doreen Carter: You are so freaky!
Jack Carter: Oh, well, we're all a little freaky, Doreen. It's the straight ones you've got to worry about.

I dig Blackalicious. For those that haven't heard of them, check out the song "Swan Lake" for starters. I like a few of the artists some of you have mentioned. The Used. 30 seconds to Mars. Moby. Norah Jones. Anti-Flag. So much great music out there..

Anti-Flag and The Used are also on the new "Liberation" compilation being distributed by Fat Mike's "Fat Wreck Chords" label:

Check out Brendan Benson:

"Tiny Spark"

I’ve always been this way
Never known any other way to feel
Got the right of way
And all of the others must yield

But I’m naked
And I’m in school
And I can’t make it
To the door

Try to understand
That an oyster can only make a pearl
From a grain of sand
But from what I don’t know comes a girl

And I’m trying
Not to laugh
Feels like I’m dying

When we break apart
And you take back your heart
And it aches in the dark
But it makes a tiny spark
