Is there an option that allows you to clear all the "new" posts into "old posts" instead of having them mount up?

When logging onto the MB, if you tick the checkbox to remember your username and password (Not a good idea if the computer you use is shared) will only highlight the posts you havent read yet. But this doesnt work right away, you will have to close down your Internet browser, log off, etc.
