DVD Talk is listing a March 18th release date
for the Columbia/Tri-Star DVD release of The Eighteenth Angel. I haven't seen confirmation yet on this elsewhere.

Adam,

That's great news! smile I have the French version of the DVD but it doesn't contain the English language track, for some unknown reason. I'll look forward to getting the English version too now! smile

I'd imagine it's just a dub and that Rachael didn't directly participate in the French track.

Yes, they have some woman dubbing the voice who sounds much too old to be coming out of Rachael's mouth, in my opinion. LOL smile (I always hate dubbing.)

The DVD is new but the VHS came out for years, so if you watch a movie 10 times (in your language) you'll be able to understand it in all languages because you know the content wink

BTW, I have the VHS of "The 18th Angel" - No need to wait for the DVD release big grin

That's not nice! I'm glad that in most German dubbed films she has the same voice. My feeling to identify her is much better smile

I don't really know much French but I have seen the movie before; I got it the day it came out on video. smile (on Halloween several years ago) I didn't watch the entire DVD (yet). I just watched bits to check it out. smile

i have never seen a live action movie dubbed but i have seen anime's i dont really know if they are too different but from what i have seen in anime dub's it isnt that entirely bad, of course i dont know what D,Princess Mononoke, or tetsuo sounded like in the original japanese format, but they dont sound too bad and sometimes the words almost match the speakers lips smile

hey people, dubbing is a very good and important thing!!! don't be so arogant thinking, that everyone on this planet is speaking english. mad

I just had the horrible vision to watch "brotherhood of the wolves" in french *shaking*. frown

but really, even though many people speak englisch, it's always better and more relaxing to watch a movie without disturbing subtitles... cool

I'm completely on the other side of the fence; I always prefer watching a subtitled movie over a dubbed one. I usually refuse to even buy dubbed movies, and will always grab the subtitled one if available. (even if it costs more) Nowadays, with DVD's, usually both are available on the same disc so that we get to choose. smile Yay!

I agree with TR, I hate dubbed stuff, it ruins the feel of the film. I'm all for subtitles.

And besides Chris, even if a lot of the world DOESN'T speak english, most of the ones that make/watch the films DO speak english. Just some food for thought. wink

hmm... well, obviously you don't want to understand it (or you simply don't want to take it from the sight of another person). confused
and although my english is good enough for the most english movies, I would always prefer the german dubbed version (which are by the way mainly good to very good, I also watched movies, which were better than the original... hard to believe, but true)
I would rather read a book, than watching a dubbed movie, because it's basicly the same. and when reading a book, I don't have to be afraid to overlook details, that are shown on the screen.

TR got it somehow right (even she's not my opinion *fg*)

moosegirl, if you would just think a minute about that sentence, you would recognize, what rubbish you wrote here. I respect your opinion, but obviously you never really thought about it, or you never saw a good dubbed movie.

I can skip the other "opinions", because they are only senseless blah blah blah !!!

oh, a little food for thought to moosegirl: have you ever thought about reading weakness???
