Did Rachael sing and play guitar for the movie 'Jossie and the Pussycats'. I'm not really sure.

I think Rachael did not know how to play guitar in her movie JATP. In her singing, maybe but I've read something about Kay Hanley singing the soundtrack of JATP. Maybe TR knows about it.

Rachael didn't actually sing or play guitar. She did pretend to in the movie, though. Rachael had some backround vocals in some of the songs.

Moosegirl,
I like the avatar ! Great find ! Should be called "Sonic Moose" RealLiveClaude It's cool if you like it, it's okay if you don't, just decide for yourselves... (Rachael, in "Josie and The Pussycats") |

Yup, Rachael's vocals and guitar were dubbed in by pros.

that is not right, because on the dvd is told, that Rachael actually learned to play at least "pretend to be nice". Rachael, Tara and Rosario where even sent onto a band-camp, where they learned to play some of the songs. in fact they did not learn to play guitar, but a specific number of songs.
that's what the special section of my "Josie and the Pussycats" DVD said the singer of the songs was "Kay Hanley", the former singer of "Letters to Cleo" - TheRealChris these are my wallpapers: http://wind.prohosting.com/falten/rlc/rlc.html |

dood but like on the DVD of JATP if you go into the extra's or whatever it shows her at her "band camp" and like she played and sung the guitar and stuff and it said that she really did do it maybe i didnt pay attention close enough but it seemed to me like she really did play and sing....

Read my post above.
Yes, she played the songs, but they didn't use her vocals or guitar in the audio. Her vocals were contributed some as background vocals for a few songs. -TR |

I remember that I have asked you before, TR. What're those songs? I guess "3 Small Words" must be one of them.

Pretend to be nice is one of them, when we hear "Oooohooo"

What are the songs that Rachael did not particularly sing in the JATP soundtrack? Is 3 small words included to it?

quote: Yes, the other ones that you see in the movie are "Pretend to be Nice" and "Spin Around". If you look on the soundtrack, you can see that "The Pussycats" are credited with backing vocals in a few songs. I hope that answered everything. -TR |

From what I gathered from the DVD extras bit, none of the band actually played their own instruments, but they learned all three songs simply for the visual effect on camera; ie; for the music video, and performances on the film etc.
I didn't like seeing that, because the thought of RLC playing guitar was a wee turn on.. (being a guitarist myself). If anyone's interested, I actually worked out how to play all the three songs, and I can tab them for you if you wish. You know where to find me! smile. |

quote: I know it because I have answered that question several times before. The girls did actually learn how to play the songs in the movie. (Yes, for visual effect.) They didn't use their actual playing because they couldn't get that good at it so quickly. -TR |

No TR. What I mean is where did you get all that information? How come that did you know everything about RLC?

quote: you're mainly right, but it is not really hard to play punk or punkrock (and similar music). I don't want to start an useless discussion about the music and soundtrack of Josie and the Pussycats, but I learned to play classic guitar and saw it a lot of times, that some people learned to play their favorite song on the guitar. and this should be no problem, as long as you only need to play accords (right term?). it's only hard to play a solo with picks and so on. for accords you only have to have a basic feeling for rhythm and the knowledge of the accords (that's, why you can buy so called "tabs" of songs). people stoped to learn notes, but learned to play tabs... it's like "malen nach Zahlen" (I don't know the english term for this). - TheRealChris these are my wallpapers: http://wind.prohosting.com/falten/rlc/rlc.html |

Mark,
That is a very popular question. I just know a lot because I have been around since Day 1, basically. I also have a fairly good memory. Chalk it all up to reading far too much. LOL -TR |
