I was taking a look at couple of RLC's movies reviews and i came across this

Quote: "What we have here are three boring actresses playing three boring characters in one boring movie"

from "http://movie-reviews.colossus.net/movies/j/josie.html"

This was made about Josie and the Pussycats, now i can handle "boring characters or boring movie even (I shudder to think), but "three boring actesses"? I dont know about you, but I feel this guy (James Berardinelli) should be shot.

Sure we're entitled to our own opinion but thats just sick.

Love to know what you all think.

You just did everything that needs to be done.

Before this I didn't know who James Berardinelli was, and now I'll just ignore anything I see that he writes. If enough people do that, he'll be UNEMPLOYED.

That's real revenge, eh? big grin

Don't make threats (even if they are idle) on the MB. I know you just were making a point, but please be careful. Thanks smile

I never care about critics. Unless the contents not what I expected and the movie gets slammed, I always decide for myself...

BTW, critics are meant to be slammed as well, as opinions differ from one another. But we have to keep our distances...

It's cool if you like it, it's okay if you don't, just decide for yourselves...

RealLiveClaude is right; who cares about what a critic says ? Sometimes they're right in ones opinion, sometimes they're wrong, so what ?? You can't expect that every movie with RLC is going to be reviewed well, certainly not JATP, which doesn't get a lot of really positive reviews (although not in my country). Off course I enjoy that movie everytime I see it smile

I humbly apologize for my idle threat.

I'm sure you can see where i was commin from though. Just that he makes these comments and doesn't really substantiate them.

I do apologize, and meant no harm.

Aw, James Berardinelli is one of the better 'net-based reviewers, and anyone who's a fan of Roger Ebert's writing style will probably enjoy his reviews. James' comments are more or less in line with most of the critics who ripped into Josie, the vast majority of whom seemed to miss the point of the movie entirely. It doesn't take much to hop from "I dislike this movie" to "I dislike everyone and everything associated with this movie", and I think that's an error he made while reviewing it. Also, I'm not sure how many of Rachael's movies he'd seen (few, I'd guess, judging by the misspelling of her name), but if he thinks of her only as 'the girl from "She's All That"', he may have prematurely dismissed her and her talent with a cursory glance.

Gang,

We are fans of RLC as a person, not so much her films. She could be in Crossroads, and we'd belive it was the best film in the world ever.

Critics are exactly that.. Critical.. that's there job.. but at the end of the day, if a film makes us happy, then why does some critics opinion, who probably has never realised the beauty and charisma of our girl, count towards our opinion/joy/arousal (haha) at watching the film? He probably is a freak, but he's paid to be a critic. If he said Every film ever was brilliant, then there wouldn't be any definition between the films we like, and ..umm.. Crossroads.

Anyhoo.. I see where you all are coming from!
Stand strong for RLC!!

smile.
