i don't know. is it just me?
last night i watched Get Carter and i thought it really sucked. rachael was good but that was about it. i like some of her movies but i find that i watch a lot of them and come away thinking home much they really sucked. the only thing good about them is that rachael is in them. it's been said that "direct to video" is hollywood lingo for "not even a teenager would pay to see this movie".

i liked Anti-Trust, The Bumblebee Flies Anyway, Tom and Huck, and She's All That. but that's about it. (but i must admit: i haven't seen too many of her movies.)

am i alone in feeling this way?

I liked AntiTrust, The Bumblebee Flies Anyway, The Hi-Line, and All I wanna Do(Strike!). Out of those All I wanna dfo is my favorite. But I agree, her movies are definately not oscar worthy, nothing wrong with that though.

I agree Hawk, I just saw blowdry yesterday, and not her best work! But thankfully she has made other films that have ehm, made up for that. and she has fans that support her through the better ones and not so good ones wink

I can only agree on one thing: she does her best, no matter the movies worth...

Other great actors have participated in bad movies and it didn't change their status...

Examples ?:
Dustin Hoffman in "Ishtar" and "Sphere"
Paul Newman in "Harry and Son"
Robert de Niro in "Showtime"
Tom Cruise in "Days of Thunder"

Any examples, go have a look at imdb.org

When I watched Get Carter the first time I had similar feeling like boba fett because I couldn't understand the whole story or the message of that movie.
But after four times of watching I began to like it in some ways. Sly as a man who fights against the bad underground to clear this crazy world. This movie has an interesting sense.

Maybe we just need to watch some movies more than once smile

I haven't seen the 2000 version of Get Carter but I have seen the original 1971 version with Michael Caine in the lead role. This was a classic british gangster film that has picked up cult status all over the world. This is one of those films that just shouldn't have been remade (and Psycho) because there is no way you could do the story justice.

From the reviews I have read the main problem with the remake was Sly, the rest of the cast, including R, were praised for good performances.

It's time Sly and Arnie gave up. wink

Like I said before SAT is my best RLC movie, JAtP was awesome! BTW AntiTrust, The Hi-Line, All I Wanna Do and Get Carter were great movies.

Well, I havent seen all of her movies, but the only movies that are concidered "good" are probably She's All That and ANTItrust.

Josie and The Pussycats had such a cheesy plot that it aint really all that enjoyable.

yeah i thought JATP was a little corny too. maybe it's because i never read any of the comics though. some people liked it but most didn't. since that movie rachael's star power seems to have dropped quite a bit. frown

I read the comic, and have always fun to watch sequences of Josie again...

Alan Cumming is such a riot... And Tara Reid's portrayal of Melody really sticks to the comic book...

Maybe you saw it in French Boba Fett, I saw it several times in that language and it was too flawed...

Thank God for Original Versions... We don't have to fight for over-dubbed France version over the Quebec one, when videos are released...

I can't say there are any movies of Rachaels that I have seen that I don't like. I think the strangest movie was "Tangled". One of those movies where you are never quite sure about what is happening.

I liked "Get Carter", maybe not having seen the Micahel Caine classic helped on that one.

Claude

Do the films lose anything in the translation? It's just that a lot of films use slang and it must be hard to translate them properly.

Just curious

To soma and to add to kiss_me comments...

When movies are dubbed, most of the time it lost its touch...

Especially if too much parisian talk gets in the way in an American movie dubbed in France...

Today, french dubbing is a concern, quantity is gaining over quality...

Moosegirl,

I thought "Antitrust" was your favorite--LOL. Well, "The Hi-Line" is my favorite (so far). I would like to check out "Tangled" and "Sally" but who knows when they'll be released?
