I just watched Antitrust on DVD (missed it in the theatres). Liked the movie. It's not going to win any Oscars, but it's worth getting.

I was disappointed that Rachael's character was given such a small role. The deleted scenes really flesh out her character, and it was too bad that they just didn't fit into the movie. I kinda agree with the director that they wouldn't work in the overall movie, but it really made her character too shallow.

Ahh well. If you've seen it in theatres, you have to rent it, the deleted scenes are like 75% about Rachael's character, and she does some great acting in them.

hey nate, can you watch the film through with the deleted scenes within the film or can you only view them individually ?

Best scene from Antitrust: "Milo tells me you're a really great artist." If you watch it a couple times (or more than a couple), you'll notice there's a screw up with continuity. She stands up from her chair twice. But nonetheless, she looks brilliant. I think they tried to make her look pale or something. I can't wait till someone caps that scene. It's going STRAIGHT to my windows desktop.

I'll get you a cap tonight, if you want.

[edit]

Actually, I might as well cap a whole bunch of scenes. There were several scenes (especially in the deleted scenes) that I'd like to have.

I got my copy today and overall I was impressed with the DVD. A few things I was disappointed with were:
  1. First off, I would have liked to see the option to watch both the theatrical version and a "special edition" with the deleted scenes in the film.
  2. Second, in the featurette they zoomed out in some of the interviews to fit two camera shots on screen with XML style code scrolling in the background. For capping purposes it would have been nice to stay fullscreen the whole time.
  3. And finally, whoever designed the menus for the DVD should be thoroughly beaten for using Macintosh screens instead of KDE or linux screens.

Other than that it was cool. I liked most all of the deleted scenes, especially the ones with Rachael. smile

On a side note, I work at a video store and the movie is doing really well so far. We can't keep it on the shelf and everyone is coming back having really enjoyed it. And the coolest part is its a rather diverse group spanning all ages, sexes, etc. Both computer junkies and those who don't know the difference between a computer and a lawn mower are enjoying it. Plus I made all the employees take it home and preview it so they are all recommending it. smile

Now that's odd. When I do a screen capture, it's showing the dvd window as being black. Hmm, there seems to be more to this than meets the eye. I'll get back to you when I figure out the problem.

Nate if your taking shots from dvd's use your dvd programs camera button rather than print screen, or else it wont work in most cases, most major players like power dvd or win dvd have on that lets you assign a button to the programs camera and save the shot to a file,

Thanks DrShrink. Unfortunately I'm still using the player that came with my laptop (never a good idea, I know) and it doesn't have a capture button. I'll grab power dvd and use that tonight.

The movie used linux, I was just hoping the idiots that built the menus would know the difference between a computer and a lawn mower.

It's basically like having the main character drive a ferrari and on the poster put him leaning against a porshe. Though I can't expect everyone to be intelligent.

You got it almost right, Chaos. But it's more like he drives a ferrari in the movie and they have him driving a volvo station wagon in the menu. smile

Yeah, I noticed that too. *shrug* Whatchagonnado?
