A friend sent me this and I just had to share it to all of you RLC fans. This is at Ebay. It's a shirt Rachael wore, signed for a charity auction. Whoever won it, sold it, and now it's being auctioned over here at Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3301088112

Two things:

Somebody really wants it. I forget what it was when I first heard of it but now it's over 80 dollars. It's just a white t-shirt (the picture of the shirt is at the link) with her autograph on it.

The other thing -- is this ethical? I thought they auctioned these things off for charity. So turning around and selling it at Ebay for whatever seems a bit... low. Or am I just being a bit of a sourpuss?

So is anyone going to spend their xmas money on Rachael's shirt? big grin

The seller is the one selling it for charity. Did you not understand something? I also know that the seller is legit so don't worry about it all being a scam.

I didn't think it was a scam it just made me very curious. Lots of us are not sure about these things because it's all new to us.

A year ago I though selling autographs was illegal.

Well, this is a charity item that Rachael donated for the purposes of auctioning off to make money for charity. smile This isn't even the same as those who get celebs to autograph photos (for free, mind you) and then turn around and sell them on eBay for a profit; I am not a fan of that sort at all.

Interesting. smile

Look at the bid history. Besides TR there are just two others who like to get it. But there are (currently) 7 bids. I wonder why someone overbids himself...

PS: Auctions are even new for me, so could an "insider" explain me that kind of bidding strategy?

WOW!

Over a hundred bucks & it's still going!

I'm guessing, but Ebay is like most and they have a "proxy bid" thing. The first bidder didn't bid it up, they just had a high opening bid. So when 3 other low bids came, it kept the first bidder on top till they went over the "Maximum".

Lots of people wait till the last ten minutes so the price stays low. Too late for this one.

BTW, what's "normal" for something like this? I've never seen this sort of thing before. Has the price ever gone above a thousand dollars or something?

The highest I have seen on eBay for an outfit that Rachael wore was for the costume you see her in on the cover of "Josie and the Pussycats". smile She also wears the same outfit in the movie, if you remember. I remember it selling in the ballpark of $850 or so. I don't remember seeing anything else sell for as much aside from the necklace that Rachael designed. smile

I have seen items similar to this tank sell for a couple hundred dollars or so. We will just have to see where this one goes! smile

Hi Gang,

Haven't dropped in for a while, been busy working over christmas (the life of a chef doesn't end on Christmas day unfortuneately!)

Anyhoo, had a good'n, got some groovy pressies, unfortuneately nothing RLC popped up covered in paper. Instead of a selection of RLC DVD's, I ended up with the Back To The Future Trilogy... it's equally as invited as I haven't seen those films in a while, however, I will point out that there is no chance of me joining the Lea Thompson network..

Anyway, the shirt off've Rachael's back! Okay, I'm in there and at the mo, I have the highest bid... is there anyone else here who I'm up against, and if so, if you win, can we share?? You send half over here? haha.. no.. but can I come and visit and have a smell?? haha.. anyway..

Hope you all had a good holiday...

smile.

Now i wonder who bought that josie outfit..hm..

peace and love

Well, it looks like meanmrmustard is the winner at $342.00! Wow! I think I might prefer to get my tank tops at the store for a few bucks instead. wink j/k

Anyway, congratulations, Mustard! smile

Jimmy, I never paid much attention to who won that "Josie" outfit. I don't believe it was anyone from this MB or they might have mentioned their win.
