My copies of both just came in the mail today and I just finished watching both. These are my impressions. I'll try not to give anything away if you haven't seen them.
All I Wanna Do: A so-so girl power movie that relies too much on sexual obression for it's humor. For a comedy, it really wasn't that funny. Then again, a 22 year old male isn't exactly the demographic for this flick. Rachael has a supporting role and probably less than 15 minutes of screen time total. She's an uptight monitor and the head of the self-discipline committee at an all-girls school. The girls at the center of the film (Kirsten Dunst, Monica Keena, Gaby Hoffman, and two no-names) give her a hard time all throughout the movie. Taken as a whole, I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone, but if you're a fan of any of the actresses, it's at least worth seeing. Of course, Rachael steals each scene she is in, particularly the one where she walks in on Kirsten Dunst and the whole right at the end of the movie as she's walking past a TV camera. With Kirsten and Rachael in the cast, I'm really surprised this didn't get stronger support from Miramax. But it really wasn't a good movie and it wasn't funny for a comedy, so I guess I understand. The Eighteenth Angel: A B-horror movie that conforms to just about every cliche that applies to the genre. The plot revolves around an ancient order of priests utilizing genetic cloning to resurrect Satan. Having a degree in biology made this one VERY hard to sit through. The whole premise was crap even beyond suspension of disbelief. BUT, this is a must-see for Rachael fans. It's from about 4 years ago, so we see a younger, teenaged Rachael with long hair. Her character in the movie is an aspiring model, so we get to see her all prettied up and posing, which is very nice. She is also the 18th angel, the last young innocent child the priests need to resurrect Satan. It's not as predictable as you might think and does have a few surprises, but it's easy to see why it wasn't successful (ie. straight to video?). It was made to ride the coat-tails of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Scream," but the horror wasn't in the same vain and audiences wouldn't have been interested. (There's even a preview for "I Still Know" at the beginning of the video.) All in all, two movies I would not watch if it hadn't been for Rachael. Of her films that I've seen, I'd rank them the following way, taking into account her performance, her screen time, any my impression of the movie as a whole. 1. She's All That 2. Josie and the Pussycats 3. Antitrust 4. The Hi-Line / The Bumblebee Flies Anyway (too close to call) 6. The Eighteenth Angel 7. Get Carter 8. All I Wanna Do |

You really consider Heather Matarazzo a "no name"?

TR: I've never heard of her and she didn't catch my eye, so ya, I consider her a no-name still. Maybe you'd like to enlighten me?
Stephen: Now that I read my review again, I think 18th Angel is probably better that I give it credit for. Don't forget to post your thoughts after watching it! |

I thought All I Wanna Do was actually really good (and I'm a 24 y/o male). It was pretty funny, but with a serious side to it. It even made me think - I mean, I never considered that having boys & girls in the same school would be a bad thing, but I can see how some girls would have trouble with it.
You're pretty much right on when it comes to 18th Angel, I definitely wouldn't have watched it if it weren't for Rachael, and although it wasn't really that bad, it wasn't that good either. At the very least, the acting was decent. Re: Heather Matarazzo... umm, who? The name looks very vaguely familiar. Perhaps I could better recognize the face.... (quick internet check) Tweety? You're talking about Tweety? What else has she been in? A quick check of imdb.com gives me a whole load of crap, the best of which are supporting roles in All I Wanna Do and Scream 3. She IS a no-name. -Nate |

As far as Heather Matarazzo is concerned, just see Welcome to the Dollhouse.
