The answer is: Sometimes she answers fanmail personally. Just keep in mind how busy she is so please don't expect that. You will at least get an autographed picture back or maybe a pre-printed autographed picture. (She has to use those sometimes because she is too busy to sign tons of pictures.)

I got a personal response from her when I wrote, but that was several years ago; she is a wee bit more famous now.
