I know Racheal is really busy and what not, but I really think that she owes it to her fans to build up her site somewhat. Just having a page that says she does not need to, because there are good ones out there already is kinda a copout.
Dont get me wrong, she is awesome; but I would really like to see her put some personal effort into her site instead of having to rely on others to make their own.
Once again I know she is real busy, but when I first saw her official site I was really dissapointed. Even if there is just a message board there that she can check once every 2 weeks and respond to would be awesome.
All i'm asking for is a little slice of the real Racheal. I say it here, because I can't think of any other place where this plea may be heard.
This is a great site by the way. Hope to post
often enough for you all to get used to my ramblings.

Please, write Rachael wink

And to your question:
I think there are many people who apprechiate when she expands her site. But she isn't into these Computer things and probably will not change anything there soon.
Thus it remains as it is smile

We understand your concern. Wish we would help, but she has the rights to her page. Artists are like us: a job which makes us busy and spare time whenever she can with family, friends, boyfriend, vacations, touring for promos and junkets and on and on...

We would like it too that she would refresh her page, but we are patient (I have an unofficial web site too, located at http://www.rlcsignature.cjb.net ) and some day she'll come and make new arrangements for her web page...

I don't think that it is a "cop-out" by having a "portal" site as the Official site. I think it is a nice thing for the fans to have. smile

Keep in mind that making an Official site is not a "snap-your-fingers-and-there-it-is" procedure. It takes a lot of planning and work. It also costs money.

Also, due to copyright issues, Official sites don't "get away with" the same stuff that fansites can. wink Fansites are generally ignored for such things because it isn't bringing in a profit. An Official site would have some answering to do if they did some things that most fansites do.

If there was to be an Official site to your liking, what would it contain? Do you want another message board? Exclusive photos? What is it that you are missing that you feel this Official site will fulfill that others have not? Feel free to express your opinions here, if you want. smile

A THOUSAND apologies for the spelling of Rachael; I feel like a gimp.
Ok...I would just want a personal touch is all. Something to let me know she is seeing what her fans are saying and would like to see some feedback from her. Like I said, I think this site is awesome and when I said cop-out I did not mean such a horrible thing.
I just meant...it would be nice for something directly from her...thats all. Even coming to this site and saying Hi, im the real Rachael I loved your comments on blah blah blah...just something.
Anyhow...whatever happens happens, Im not going to stop coming here or anything. wink

what i think tslayer is trying to say is that like myself, i'd like rachael to come on every once in a while, tell us whats shes up to, new roles, latest movies, share a few comments on a couple of threads. to me, being busy is not a good excuse, i work nine hours a day as a car sprayer, and when i come home, i'm out in the garage doing my other cars or friends car on the weekends, so i'm never relaxing, if thats not busy then i don't know what is!!
if rachael doesn't have time for an official website, fine, but the best website i have found to be close as an official is this one. granted it's not updated as much but still its a good one. i believe rachael should make an effort every once in a blue moon to come on and give us a few things to talk about!
i was saying to some friends, if i were an actor or successful musician who had a few websites out threre, i would actually come online and chat to people everynow and again, talk about what may have happened on set or at a gig. the fans would really really apprehiate it and would gain more respect for being in touch with the fans. i have mentioned in this in my latest letter to rachael, (which i have written to say thanks for the reply.) if she doesn't do it, i won't stop liking rachael, i never will. i still want a sequel to the 18th angel and i'd like her to come online. it would be very interesting to see her replies to some of these threads!! wink

It would be easier for her to contact us and just post on this message board. We could set up a forum that only she can start topics in and then others can reply. Kinda like the Mandy Moore official site has. razz

I didn't know Mandy Moore participates once in a while in a Message Board !

I know Rachael isn't keen on computers. Maybe Kip does. Anyway, didn't she said once she would like to date a computer geek ?

I don't expect in my case that my website will be part of it one day. I'd rather keep it as it is. If the day comes, I'll be ready...

I think Rachael having her own forum here is a great idea. I mean it's all about her anyhow. I also feel that MentalMickey hit it on the nose. That was pretty much what I was trying to get at. Thank God for articulate people.
I also think where it lists the different forums...that if Rachael responds in any of them; perhaps the forum title should be colored (maybe grey). That way if people log on the site...only frequent travellers will know what it means. And then we can hop right to her new post.
Just ideas. I mean at the same time I think this site is great; but I am an idea person. I'm always thinking ya know. So please dont be offended.
Well Guess Im off. roll eyes

TR:

I've lurked here for awhile, and I really wish Rachael's official and fan websites had more news on upcoming projects. Since she does so many indies, it can be hard to find out the status of them. I know she's filming 11:14 right now, but what's going on with Bookies, Scorched, Tangled, etc? Somewhere I heard that 29 Palms was going straight to video in September, but can't find any information on it anywhere. If her website just contained a simple breakdown of works in progress, when we could expect to see them, and where to find them, it would really be helpful.

Also, personal appearances. She was at a video store signing autographs in Seattle awhile back. Well, how were her fans supposed to know?

She could do it without anything more than a list below the links she has on her webpage.

"Scorched - Limited Release in September, 2002
29 Palms - Straight to video September, 2002
11:14 - Now Filming

Rachael will be appearing at Suncoast Motion Pictures in the Mall of America in Minneapolis on July 13th."

Something as simple as that would really be informative and helpful.

Mozart,

Her site links to IMDb.com which usually contains the release dates. Believe it or not, the actors aren't always aware of what exactly the distributors are doing. Asking the status here. on this MB. might get you a better answer, actually. wink

Also, I believe that the Seattle signing information was incorrect, so don't count that one. smile

Stargate-SG1 actress Teryl Rothery's website, www.terylrothery.com is an example of what some RLC fans are looking for. Thing is, this level of OFFICIAL website seems to be more hands-on from the management level. There is information being shared with fans, but it all comes from the star's handlers. They are, for the most part, public relations people who take care of their client's needs in promoting the artist. The artist doesn't take a lot of time in designing, writing, editing content for their website, but occasionally will take an hands-on approach when something big is about to happen, like a new project is being released.

Another thing you need to remember is that even if her site was not just a page, she wouldn't be the one mkaing it. She would have some webmaster that does everything. I doubt any movie/tv star maintains there own website.

I wouldn't mind seeing a page that she writes a letter weekly or monthly. A lot of people who have sites, write stuff and send it to the webmaster of the site to add, but she might be too busy to do that. Besides, if it was a weekly thing, there wouldn't be much more for her to talkabout, then herself. I Rachael looks like someone who wouldn't want to just talk about herself everyweek.

Hi! I think the official site is kinda cool. It looks like she made it from home at her own computer, but isnt very good with HTML, like me! It could use more content, but I'd rather see something personal, like a letter to her fans every once in a while than more pictures and junk like that! It's kinda like she's a normal person (which she is) with a normal website!

EmeuOfDoom -> are you talking about this site ?
http://www.rachaelleighcook.com

Because I think it's not a site, but just a page big grin
But I'm agree with Rachael, "who needs official ?".
I'm glad that Rachael appreciates fan sites, it's a sort of thanks. wink

Who's rock star ?

Honestly though, I'd take the position that she should be left to decide for herself. I would feel like I was being rude if I asked her to do things like post on a messageboard or keep up her website. Just call me a conservative if you will, but I just don't feel right demanding anything from anyone in a position like hers, especially if they are doing all the work in making movies and furthering a career and such.

Don't get me wrong. I think she's a great actress, and as much as a bonus it would be if she did keep up her website or post on a messageboard, I'd sooner not ask than ask. She has her own life to worry about, and I have my own life to worry about right now...

I believe that if I were a big actress I'd participate in some computer stuff like in a MB...but that's only because I actually like messin with computers...which Rach does not. There's really nothing we can do about it.

TR is right...Offical sites suck most of the time. I mean...if RLC.net was offered to be "offical"...it would probably have to dump 95% of it's media/images.

Just not worth it...she'd have to pay some web designed a ridiculous amount of money...and it would be pretty bare. Maybe 1 or 2 "exclusive" things...but nothing big.

Thank God For Texas - Kim Smith
