I cant wait to see her in blonde ambition. she is so talented. I wish she was in more movies. I havent seen Texas Rangers yet, but my family video has it to rent, does rachel have a good size role in it or a small one?

Rachael's part in Texas Rangers isn't big, so don't get too amped up for a long appearance. -TR |

Mainstream movie roles don't come all that easily these days. RLC may be a bit hard to cast in a lot of roles. With her smaller stature, its not like she can be Joan of Arc, Queen Elizabeth, or someone with huge stage presence. The height differences with other leading men tend to be fairly great as well. I think it makes it cinematically challenging to many filmmakers tastes. In this low cost DVD age, taking a risk on another "She's All That" type of film on the big screen, isn't cutting it.

Yes the thread does live on lol. I've got something to say.
All you people are from america and boy i thought it was bad to hear anything about rachael over here in the UK. It would definately be nice to see rachael in more heard of movies. She's got the looks and the talent so what is she afriad of. Height wont come into this atall. 5ft 2 may well be small, but its the standard height for a female. Christina ricci can become successfully well known by standing at 5ft 1, so can holly hunter and Eva longoria... everyone knows her and she's the same height as rachael. I've been waiting around a long time to get to see that rachael has been cast in something major, it doesnt mean she has to have a lead role. If she is cast as a minor role in a big film, people will still notice her for the staggering performances that she shows. No, there might not be alot of roles in hollywood that she can play, but thats a given for every actor out there. There isnt just movies that could be options for her, there are television shows, where it wont really matter about height if she wanted to do them. She'd just need to tell her agent or sign up with a good one which could get her good interesting work and they would sort things out somehow. Her resume will mean something to them, but unfortunately not to an audience of people because hardly anyone has heard of these films. Maybe around 3 are well known, but seriously they are long gone, thats why people forget who she is. There are animation projects she could submit herself to instead of these cheesy indies that dont even make 3 pence. I'm sorry, i did like her choice to do this at first but not if shes going to keep doing it. The best thing for her to do is to get her publicity up in a few decent movies, that seem challenging, because the more challenging the more better off they are likely to be and then star in a couple of indies so then atleast people are going to know about these projects. For instance, if jessica alba was to sign up for an indie now, everyone would know about it because almost everyone knows who she is. I only want to see her live upto her standards, she should get credit for her such good talent, and if shes gonna keep sticking to these indies, she might aswell quit altogether because to me, with her doing these movies, it looks like shes afraid to show herself etc. Please rachael if your reading this then get out there and show the world what you've got, you really are all that and i really dont want to have to remember you for just doing that one amazing project. You owe it to your fans! |

Well, I don't think she owes us anything.
With that being said, of course it would be nice for us if she was in a big film, to see her in theaters all around the world, on the big screen again; and we'd be happy knowing she's made it up there, being succesful and a part of that great project -- and she's already been there and done that! The thing is, in my opinion, that good projects don't have to necessarily be those big Hollywood movies, not at all. If she's not been in certain kinds of movies and been in others instead, I think she'll surely have her own reasons for that. Why should it be she's afraid to show herself? Maybe she's found other advantages when choosing X projects instead of the ones you could consider mainstream (and again, she's already been there!). In my opinion, she is free to do whichever projects she wants and sees fitting at each moment according to her priorities and likings, and we the fans will happily support her and be glad she has the life and career she's chosen. ------- “When I was born, the doctor asked my parents, ‘How do you want to spell Rachel?’ And they were, like, ‘There's another way to spell it?’ It didn't cost anything extra, and they liked it, so they added the ‘a.’ But now at restaurants when I put my name down, they always call out Raquel or Rach-a-el.” - RACHAEL LEIGH COOK. |

the point i was trying to make is how can one be a fan of someone who isnt known? (has been)
I'm happy for her but its not really doing her any favours and to be honest i think she shouldnt sell herself short. And by me saying she owes it to her fans, well... We've been the ones standing by her choices when we never had to. I dont have a problem with that and i know she doesnt REALLY owe it to us as its her own choice, but it would be nice to get something out of this rather than having to wait for these indies to come out on dvd rental. Sure she likes indie projects, but would it hurt once in while to submit yourself to something more challenging so you could gain more experience and become a successful actor? Doing things that your good at wont gain you any oscars. And I'm not saying to be succesfull you have to be apart of something big, being successful is getting something finished and acomplishing a goal. Plus she's already been there now and done these indies, so isnt it time to move on and show the world that your good at something? Acting shouldnt really be a choice to an actor because its a job. I'm sure she'd rather be a part of something that all her fans could view rather than the 10% who would mostly live in north america. I wasnt trying to start an argument or anything its just the fact that i cannot see where she's going exept from downhill. Her last good project was Nancy Drew and you could see that her performance was phonominal, But the thing i hate most is that the little "Infamous" stars like Paris hilton, fly of others talents like rachael's. Its no good! |

Freefall is a fan of aya ueto for a while now, as i told before already. he told me that there are almost 10 new pics daily of aya. she is really a workaholic. she makes movies, tv shows. sings, doing photoshoots, ads, and whatnot. What else can a fan wish for? But thats not Rachael. She is unique and we have to accept her the way she is. Rachael is doing alot projects at all for american standards. but i agree its really sad that mostly she is doing are small indie films, playing smaller roles, so they are hard to get to see . and dont have much of her in it too. But she is happy. Thats all what counts. i probably would also make only small movies i like to do. i can understand that . We should be happy she has the choice to do what she wants. And i am sure we will see alot more from her in the future. Lets cross fingers.

My much, much too long response: First of all, she's a working actress, not a movie star, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Rachael is working steadily, and I definitely don't get that hint of "anything for a paycheck" desperation I get from actors like Lance Henriksen or Eugene Levy who do 45,000 awful DTV movies a year. Rachael's career doesn't seem like it's suffered a downturn to me. She doesn't have as many high profile movies in rotation as she once did, no, but think about how few of those high profile roles there really even were: She's All That, a $10 million Miramax movie, and Josie and the Pussycats, a $22 million movie that split its very modest production costs between two different studios. That's really it. Get Carter was a reasonably big movie, but her role was kinda small in that, and Antitrust...eh, it was a decent sized role, but it wasn't a huge part, and it wasn't that huge a movie either. Really, other than that handful, the types of movies Rachael's doing now really isn't all that different than the types of movies she was doing ten years ago. I don't mean that in a bad way either; they're eclectic roles of varying sizes in very different types of films. Heck, if you looked at the budgets of a lot of these movies that had a limited release or even went straight to video, I'd bet a very large percentage of them cost as much -- and maybe even more! -- to produce as her higher profile work. It's just really hard to get a movie in theaters nowadays with so many hundreds and hundreds of independent releases coming out every year, and DVD is so healthy anymore that I don't think direct-to-video carries the stigma it used to anyway. There are only so many $85 million movies and "I'm-a-big-big-movie-star" slots to go around. It's borderline-impossible to get into, it's extremely hard to stay there since there's another 'next big thing' waiting in the wings every twenty minutes, and it's not always a heckuva lot of fun when you are breathing in that rarified air. Rachael's not slumming it at all by sticking to smaller movies, and I guarantee you there are tens of thousands -- heck, probably in the hundreds of thousands -- of actresses who'd leap off a cliff without hesitation if they thought it'd land them the career she has today. Stay grounded. Enjoy what you do. That matters more than being on the cover of "Mademoiselle". |

She didn't get a chance/offer...
She chose not to do it... Both are speculation. Is she playing safe ? Or is she playing wise ? Another speculation. And it is interesting to learn that working actress is different than a movie star. *wicked smile* Box office movie stars are found. They didn't make it happen. Every single one of them simply perform the best they can on what they got and got notice whether they mean to or not. Is she driven by acknowledgement ? Or Is acting just a sport to her ? YESSSSssssssssss.... Another speculation. Forgive the pointless post. Forever speculating, BootSector |

Maybe Rachael will have a career like Kurt Russel(?).He started as a child actor for Disney. Then as an adult did worked with John Carpenter on "Escape From New York","The Thing","Big Trouble in Little China". Maybe Dule' Hill will hire her on more Psych episodes.
Maybe Rachael could become a regular and come back as Abigale and she and Shawn could rekindle their relationship. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Mattgp, |
