Later this month we will be enabling a new interface for the message board. Overall it isn't too radically different, but it will allow us to offer some new features later this year/early next year. Some colors and graphics may change some, but overall the same color scheme will be used in the new look.

For the most part, things will still operate the same, but we'll post a link to a document to answer any questions you have about the new look.

Expect the change to come in the next week sometime.

Note: The new interface requires somewhat newer browsers (e.g. IE5.5+, Mozilla, etc.) If you use an older browser you may be forced to stick with the current interface.

Cheers,
Steve

Yellow? Ewwww! How about blue/black? That would rock.

Personally, I like the current color scheme. This is the only board that I have ever looked at that I actually LIKED. I prefer it to stay with these colors. Smile

It was talked about, but the color scheme will not be changed at this time (certainly not yellow/orange). Wink

Will the new changes be all that beneficial? Nothing here seems to be broken...

I'm always up for something new. I think the new interface will be great. Don't get me wrong, I love this MB the way it is, but change can be good sometimes.

Will it make it easier to post images? I'm tired of following the rules only to end up with a red x or broken image when I put the link for an image on the MB. I want "cut and paste" for images, 'cause it works. The "link to the image" is a total failure in IE, but worked okay in Netscape.

Also, how about an "edit post" feature, so when typos are caught too late, we can correct them without making a double or triple post. It would be available to the user who wants to make such correctios, like this one.

Keep the color sceme, add more graemlins.

Thanks for listening and keep up the great work.

Renoir: It's not a matter of the current interface being "broken", but rather, new features will only be added to the new interface. The interface has been available to us for quite some time now, but we're just now choosing to adopt it.

It does take some getting used to, but once you get used to it, its a more intuitive interface (for the most part). There is no 'cut and paste' way of showing images, but it is a bit different. If you're getting a red X it is likely that the image is on a server that doesn't allow hot-linking. 'Edit post' is already a feature. You can find it on each post (paper/pencil icon).

The color scheme will remain the same, but with a few minor changes.

Alright, in preparation for the new interface (expect it late this week) I've made a few changes to colors, they are as follows:

Border color is now black (was blue)
Category row is now dark blue (was black)
Link colors are now dark blue (were black)

Links now stand out more.

Okay. Thanks Steve.

I wish that the edit option didn't have the 30 min time frame to make corrections.

The color change looks good, too.

Sounds good to me. Any chance that you could allow a post to be deleted within that time frame also?
