Hey, I'm back I've been working in a video/dvd rental store (don't know the exact expression) the last couple of weeks (unfortunately being a student costs money ). Today i was looking at some release dates for the next 2 months and I saw that Scorched will be in our store the 22nd of April, according to our most recent data. This date could change over time, but it's going straight to video in holland, that's for sure.
That's all folks

Europeans are lucky... They got Tangled first, then Scorched... What next ?
I believe my French buddies will be jubilating !
RealLiveClaude It's cool if you like it, it's okay if you don't, just decide for yourselves... (Rachael, in "Josie and The Pussycats") Come and visit RLC Signature at http://www.rlcsignature.cjb.net
I reckon smaller releases first get "probed" on the region 2 market.
I don't know if any of you caught my thoughts on 29 Palms last week , but it seems that South Africa gets these things pretty early as well (region 2).
I'll keep you guys posted on any "scorched" developments.

Hey TR, do by any chance also know anyone who workds for the company that distributed Tangled? Please ask them why it hasn't come out in the philippines yet or Sally.
thanks

The problem is that not one company owns the worldwide distribution rights, so there are actually many companies involved. I am not sure, but possibly there isn't a distributor for the areas you mentioned.
"Sally" is easier because I was informed that the DVD is actually region-free and will run on any country's DVD player. This means that you can probably buy it from the U.S. and play it just fine where you are. I hope that information is acurate.

...though Sally is still an NTSC disc, so even though any DVD player should be able to 'accept' it, viewers in PAL territories will still need to be able to convert the NTSC content to PAL.

I can confirm that Sally is a Region 0 DVD. It is NTSC format which is not a problem as PAL DVD players can be set for Auto (or NTSC) format. I lent a friend a Region 0 DVD and he had to go into the video settings on his DVD player to adjust it because the machine was factory set to PAL.
The only likely problem is TV compatibilty though most recent PAL TV's are NTSC compatible. Though most (if not all?) UK (anyway) DVD players have a PAL60 option which plays NTSC disks in PAL format at 60 Mhz (same frequency as the NTSC TV system). Which may work with older TV's (not with my oldest one however).
I suppose the only problem could be if you are in a SECAM area (the "other" TV system). I am not sure what that format entails in terms of lines (525 for NTSC and 625 for PAL) on the screen. I am assuming that a SECAM TV could be multiformat if it is recent enough. Not even sure where SECAM is used...
The main compatibilty problem with DVDs would be to try to play a PAL DVD on an American TV as there are just not enough lines on the screen to do it properly, though I suppose multi-format TV sets are available???
Hope I haven't "blinded anyone with Science"!!!

PAL DVD's play fine on my TV. My TV is only a couple years old, though, so maybe it is new enough to handle it.
