`The Disposables` [Note: now titled, "Broken Kingdom" - TR]

written and directed by her husband daniel gillies.
-------------

Four narratives weave their way through the tragic slums of Bogota to the lofty hills of Hollywood. A 12-year-old prostitute girl and an ill-fated, eccentric American writer forge a strange companionship. A Colombian university student invites a terrible danger into her world in the name of financial solace, while a day-care teacher in Los Angeles does everything she can to fight the weight of a tragic secret.

With daniel making the movie she should sure get some good screen time Smile

Broken Kingdom (AKA The Disposables) is mentioned on Jamie Wedow's website, under Current Film Projects. Wedow is a co-executive producer of the film.

Well apparently we were too eager to share it.

Had to take it down at the request of the lead producer. It's a shame, people were enjoying it.. but a real one will be out soon.

He has no clue how it was found.. apparently Mut found it through a harmless Google search. The site I took it from was last updated in July 2009, so it was sitting there for a long while un-noticed.

Oh well, hope you big fans all got to see it -- shouldn't be too long now.

Two early reactions from the premiere:

"and it's brilliant. The visuals are stellar in a Wong Kar-Wai meets Terrence Malick sort of way (I asked Daniel Gillies after the film what his influences were, and sure enough he listed those two filmmakers), but the script is an original, heartfelt and profound work that deserves whatever awards it can get. That this is Gillies's first foray into directing makes it that much more impressive. I sincerely hope that Gillies makes more films, he has a great visual talent and a great storytelling ability that will only grow more unique with each film he makes. "

On Rachael: "She had tons of screen time and was absolutely terrific. I was enamored with her character."

"Thank you for bringing the premiere of this movie to RI! It is a very thoughtful film with compelling characters and a narrative that fills you with questions about motivations and decisions before elegantly resolving all of the characters by the end. One of the most enjoyable screenings I've been to at the festival"
