An amusing tidbit, I just thought of...
The writer for the Twilight series once said that they would have chosen Rachael for the role of Alice Cullen for the movie. Now the movies are being made and Rachael is too old to play that role. Anyway, I just thought it was amusing that Rachael will be doing a vampire movie, after all. -TR |

Exactly. Now the question is: will she play a vampire or an unsuspecting victim?

More and more work for Rachael... great!
Networks are announcing their pilot pickups too.. we should hear about Nirvana sometime soon. I don't think she's too old to play Alice Cullen.. Rachael pulls off younger naturally. With the actor that plays AC threatening to leave the last movie, maybe Rachael will end up filling the shoes lol |

New Developments for Shunji Iwai’s ‘Vampire’
June 5th, 2010 This movie is sounding more awesome all the time! Just a quick re-cap for new readers, if you don’t already have the scoop: Vampire follows the story of who else, a vampire, who works as a schoolteacher. His feeding ritual is fairly unique, if a tad depressing: he preys on suicidal women, but he falls in love with each one before their inevitable demise. Kevin Zegers (Wrong Turn, Gossip Girl), will play Simon, the vampire with a soft spot. Supporting roles will be filled by up-and-comers Keisha Castle-Hughes, Rachael Leigh Cook, Kristin Kreuk, Adelaide Clemens, Trevor Morgan, Amanda Plummer, and Yu Aoi. Twitch shares more details about the film, and below, we have a production video straight from the set of Vampire: “Zegers stars as Simon, a man with a predilection for the taste of blood, and the resourcefulness to find willing victims on a website for the suicidal. Given Iwai’s track record of creating characters that have a highly developed fascination for the object of their affection, you can expect a delicate balance of compassion and utter immorality. Also, given that there have been a number of actresses doing short stints throughout the Vancouver shoot, expect something of a body count. With the dense green forests of the North Vancouver mountainsides in a constant state of fog and drizzle, Iwai is reminded of Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan that draws close to Siberia. However much Iwai is or isn’t at home, his actors are certainly navigating a somewhat foreign process. “According to Zegers, “Anytime I get a bearing of where I am, I sort of start all over again. I’ve been [acting] since I was a little kid, and this is like nothing I’ve ever done. It feels different, but it feels better.” A notable sentiment coming from an actor who met with Iwai immediately after four days on the set of Sebastian Gutierrez’s vignette-based piece Girl Walks Into a Bar, where he was doing a stick-up scene in a nudist ping-pong bar. And for a film that feels better, how much time is he spending in a dark and morbid emotional state? “On this movie, 24-7… It feels very much like abuse, and I knew all along that this was going to be a very emotionally taxing thing, so I was prepared for the beat-down, and the incessant need to be in this dark, sort of funny place. I’m laughing a lot, but the sort of crazy laugh you see the guy in the corner doing.”" Video: Vampire on set with Kevin Zegers ( Source ) |

Kevin Zegers: My Movie 'Vampire' Isn't About Vampires At All
Posted 6/16/10 3:40 pm ET by Jocelyn Vena in Movie News Vampires. They are all the rage. But, "Bonnie and Clyde" star Kevin Zegers is not jumping on the bandwagon, despite the fact that his new flick, which he just wrapped, is tentatively called "Vampire." And, he told MTV News that given the fact that he doesn't actually play a vampire in the uber-dark flick, there may have to be some title changes. "I just finished shooting that [last week] in Vancouver with Keisha Castle-Hughes and Rachael Leigh Cook. It was great," he said. "It's sort of like 'American Psycho.' It's actually not like a vampire movie, which I think they're actually going to change the title." Well, it may not be about a cold one, per se, but we do have to say that Kevin's character sounds vaguely vampire-like, even if the name of the flick ends up getting altered. "It's about a school teacher who sort of seduces young women on the internet and helps them commit suicide," he explained, leaving us creeped out. He added, "[He] sort of takes all of the blood out of them and drinks it. I am that teacher." The actor said that it's pretty normal for him to be cast him in really dark movies. "That tends to be the things people like me to do," he explained. "I end up in the strange movies, which by the way is kind of great." What do you think of the premise of "Vampire"? Does it creep out out, too? ( Source ) |

A nice review, nice note about Rachael.
Vampire Japanese director Shunji Iwai has produced a vampire film like none I’ve ever seen. The vampires in question have no supernatural powers at all; they simply crave the act of drinking their victim’s blood. And yes, that makes them serial killers. But at the opening of our story, Simon (Kevin Zegers) has infiltrated an Internet suicide club, much like the ones so common in Japan and popping up in the US and other countries as well. Iwai has an eye for beautiful and compelling images, a patience for mystery and ambiguity, and a stellar cast. Trevor Morgan is a standout as the creepiest taxi driver you’ll ever meet; he skates the line between pathetic and impressive perfectly. Adelaide Clemens turns a role that could easily have become a cipher into an enormously moving portrait. Rachael Leigh Cook creates a girl so wacky that even though she’s one of the only characters not involved in suicide and death, she’s actually the one we remember as a psycho. And Kristin Kreuk takes a crucially important final scene and nails it. An ambitiously innovative film that reaches for the stars and often gets there. |
