LOS ANGELES, CA (July 18, 2005) – Two-time Academy Award®-winner Hillary Swank (Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don’t Cry) executive produces and stars in 11:14, a compelling thriller available on DVD from New Line Home Entertainment on October 11, 2005. The tale of several seemingly random characters whose lives intersect one fateful night in a small town is told in an intriguing, non-linear style that recalls genre classics Memento and Pulp Fiction and features a dynamic supporting cast. The DVD special features include commentary from writer/director Greg Marcks, deleted scenes, a storyboard gallery and the behind-the-scenes featurette “46 Minutes to Midnight.” 11:14 is available at a $19.97 SRP, and the pre-order due date is September 6, 2005.
Swank’s headlining performance is supported by an award-winning ensemble cast that includes Colin Hanks (the upcoming King Kong, Orange County), Patrick Swayze (Donnie Darko, Dirty Dancing), Barbara Hershey (The Portrait of a Lady, Beaches), Rachel Leigh Cook (TV’s Into the West, She’s All That), Shawn Hatosy (John Q., The Cooler) Henry Thomas (Gangs of New York, E.T. the Extraterrestrial) and Ben Foster (HBO’s Six Feet Under, Hostage). SYNOPSIS 11:14 tells the intricately connected story of a series of incidents that all converge one fateful evening – with life-altering effects. The story starts at 11:13 PM as Jack (Thomas) drives down the freeway en route to a late-night rendezvous with his girlfriend. One minute later, his car crashes into a mysterious stranger with seemingly fatal results. Tsk tsk...even the marketing guys can't spell "Rachael".

I know that this is totally off topic, but a few years ago I saw Hillary and her husband Chad in a parade. My first thought how cool, Rob Lowe's younger brother, oh and he is with that actress from Just The Ten of Us, Karate Kid 3, and 90210. I was more thrilled to meet Chad Lowe, I thought that Hillary chick was an okay actress. That was one year before Boys Don't Cry came out. Talk about poor judgement.

Rachael Leigh Cook admits it was "really disappointing" to get word -- via mass e-mail from the director -- that New Line has decided to release her "11:14" flick direct to DVD in October. The indie, which also stars Hilary Swank and Patrick Swayze, has shown in a scant few theaters -- and drawn raves as ingenious. "The movie just had a really tough time," says Cook, who is becoming a love interest for Josh Duhamel on "Las Vegas" this season. "When it premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2003, there were so many bids. They picked one, and then it fell through. And when the heat is off, it's hard to get a film sold. It's too bad. Greg Marcks deserves a theatrical release," she says of the first-time filmmaker, who structured his black comedy about a group of people and an automobile accident in a novel way. "But he's doing all right. He's on to other things."
I almost hate to say this, but by going straight to DVD must mean 11:14 is a good movie. It almost seems as if Rachael's best movies are the ones that go straight to DVD. As much as I like SAT,J&P,Get Carter and her other more mainstream films, her indies are usually better.

It definitely is a good movie and it is a shame that it will not be playing in theaters, but it definitely is worth checking out. I think it will please fans more than many recent projects have. Don't miss this one!

I just wanted to mention that the ONE theater that is playing "11:14" in the U.S. is The Roxie in San Fran. Anyway, here is a little article mentioning this and focuses on how Rachael is working to overcome her "straight to video" phase. Enjoy.
I sorry if there are any "Josie" fans out there, but from what I've been hearing, "Josie" should have gone straight to DVD and "11:14" should gone to the theaters. Speaking of marketing, the "Josie" group is obvious, and it seems to me that "11:14" could have been marketed to the "Memento" fans. The problem with "Josie" is that it was marketed towards the children of "Josie" fans, but had adult humor. Also the children of "Josie" fans probably never saw an episode of the original "Josie", heck I am thirty-five and I bearly saw an episode. The fans of "Memento" are more serious moviegoers and would have made "11:14" and Rachael marketable.

Maybe with "11:14" coming out in October(Rachael's birthmonth), the fates will be kind and make "My First Wedding" a success and/or the episodes of "Las Vegas" that she appears in even higher than "Desperate Housewives" or "Lost".

josie isn't a bad film by any means, but like you say it WAS marketed wrongly. personally i don't believe it was meant to have too much to do with the tv show - besides that wasn't the problem. the problem, like you say, was making what is essentially a kids film too 'clever' - let's face it most ADULTS don't 'get' satire
you know i often think if 11:14 had have been promoted better then i'm sure we'd be complaining about people crying 'rip-off' because it has a similar structure to memento [sadly people do seem to think that the latter film was the first to ever use the device]
and while i'm here - if rachael DOES need anywhere to stay then it's going to be in my house - my partner agrees, so that's two against one [so to speak]

Were the other films that used the "watching backwards" device obscure European films? I thought that that the whole hoopla over Memento was that its structure was unique.

I don't think Rachael will ever hurt for money. Even if she is stuck in straight-to-DVD hell, Rachael could support a small family since she is always working. The fact that Daniel is part of the Spiderman franchise does not hurt either(that is as long as Sam Raimi stays in charge and he does not let someone like say...mmm...Joel Shumacher get involved.)

Rent the French movie "Irreversible" with the beautiful Monica Bellucci in the lead. The movie is backwards and frightening in its realistic depiction of violence.
I hope some people see and write about "11:14" after the DVD release. I enjoyed the movie. Rachael lit up the screen in that schoolgirl outfit and the rest of the cast is excellent: not only Swank but Shawn Hatosy (from "Tangled") and Colin Hanks and Patrick Swayze.
Irreversible is reletivly recent. I thought someone was going to say that there was some film from the thirties, or some older period of time that we Americans had overlooked in our praise of Chris Nolan, who now that I think of it may be British. Dr. Joseph, thanks for reminding me about Rachael being in a schoolgirl outfit. Even more incentive to see the film!
