Does anyone know the status of these various projects Rachael is attached to or is rumored to be attached to? Here they are:

1) "LA LA Land": About all I could find out is that it's a modern-day "Alice in Wonderland." (Maybe set in L.A., hence the "LA LA"?) There's no studio yet, just a couple of indie production companies, one of which is Franchise (I think).

2) "Northanger Abbey": Based on the Jane Austin novel about a girl fascinated by gothic horror stories who journeys to a spooky abbey. No director on this yet, but Harvey Weinstein's producing it for his studio Miramax.
I remember this one being mentioned as far back as "She's All That" and "Texas Rangers," when Rachael said Weinstein had promised her the lead role is this film. I wondered what had happened to it. Early in her career, Gwyneth Paltrow endured "The Pallbearer" for Miramax in order to get her hands on their good scripts. Maybe, Rachael's earlier work for Miramax puts her in the lead for good scripts there too.

3) "Macabre": This is a remake of a 1958 film about a man who has five hours to find his young daughter, who's been buried alive.
This project seems the most promising because of the people attached. I've heard that Gary Oldman and Steve Buscemi are attached to act with Rachael, and Robert Zemeckis ("Back to the Future," "Forrest Gump") will direct. Zemeckis and Joel Silver ("Die Hard," "The Matrix") will produce. (Presumably, with Silver's long-standing relationship with Warner Bros., that'll be the studio.)

4) "Magnethead": This is the story of a young boy who gets hit with a baseball and has a plate implanted in his head. The plate gives him super-powers. Rachael and Jason Schwartzmann ("Rushmore") were attached to star, but I think it fell through. Also, Barry Levinson ("Liberty Heights") and Paula Weinstein were going to produce it for Warner Bros.

Anyone have any other news on any of these, or other projects Rachael may be involved in? Thanks.

Jimmy

If Rachael is in macabre, she better not be the daughter because RLC 6 ft under for most of a movie doesnt sound appealing to me.

I must admit on reading the first thread my immediate thought was I hope Rachael was not the one 6 feet under. It would give me claustrophobia just watching it (a movie called "The Vanishing" had that effect on me, or at least the original European version with subtitles, never bothered with the American remake). Could be a rather restrictive role I suppose...

Last I heard about Northanger Abbey was that it had been bought and Shelved by Miramax (although why they'd bother to buy it they're just going to shelve it is beyond me). Maybe they're just going to sit on it until the time is ripe. Who knows? But I wouldn't expect it to be filmed any time soon.

Never heard of the other ones. Magnethead sounds stupid, but then again so did Galaxy Quest and Mystery Men, and I loved those movies smile

LA LA Land and Macabre sound like something Rachael would do, and might be good. I'd love to see her working with people like Buscemi and Oldman, they're both very respectable actors (if not nearly so respectable in most of the roles they play).

Don't count "Northanger Abbey" out yet. I'm not sure where you heard your info, Nate, but I believe it is untrue; the project is not shelved. Granted, it is not being shot, but there are no plans to shelve it just yet, as far as I know. smile

As for most of the above projects---most are rumors, of course. Big shock! wink

The last thing I heard that RLC was actually working on was Scorched, but that wrapped a month or two ago. Then there was the NFG video. However, since that time I have not seen or heard of anything that she is ACTUALLY working on and not just attached to or rumored to be attached to.

Is she currently working on anything? (Can't wait for her turn on E!'s Celebrity Adventures)
