I don't think the big brass film people thought it was a good film at first. Maybe, it would have conflicted with that other western "American Outlaws". I really don't know the true reason. TR, anybody...?

Mabye American Outlaws was such a horrible film that Dimension/Miramax wanted to show them how a western was supposed to be done.

Or American Outlaws did better at the box office than anyone expected and the studio wants to cash in while they can.

Or they're afraid that the "hot young stars" in the cast won't be next year and no one will want to see them.

Has anyone been to the Miramax website to see what's going on with Texas Rangers?

Actually, I remember when the movie was finished that the studio heads were so happy with the film, that they moved it up to a spring release. Then, from rumors I heard, it didn't test well so it got pushed back. Then it just seems to have been bumped back and back; obviously they are waiting for a prime time to open it. Opening it now would be a mistake because of "American Outlaws."

Nobody really has a clear idea as to what is going on. Even the actors are in the dark! LOL smile

We'll just have to wait and see.

In light of recent events Americans have always done one thing where law and order come into play: they watch John Wayne movies or other classical westerns where the bad guy gets his due in the last reel. After all, in the Hollywood western, right is right, wrong is wrong, and justice is served up quick with hot lead spit out of the mouth of Samuel Colt's Single Action Army "Peacemaker" revolvers. Simple times allowed for simple justice, and that is what the Hollywood western always tried to serve up.

Of course, since we are talking about Texas Rangers here, they'd better be armed right, with the .44 Colt Patterson revolvers. Anyone know what period of western history this is supposed to take place in?

As I read, it must be after the Civil War (1865).

I know Usher Raymond plays in this one. Curious to see a black man struggling to get accepted by some Texans hungry for justice...

Watch out for Alfred Molina. I remember that he played some baddies, in particular Sally Field's Iranian hubby in "Not without my daughter..." Still remember his fierce ruthless look...

There's gonna be som'shootin and som'hangins, deep it da heart of old'Texas !
lol...

I'm bot sure if we shoud call it TR, cause TR might get confused. See if TR tures out to be a horible movie, someone might say "I hate TR", then someone would say "why do you hate TR", then their would be a shoot out and we would end up imploding the universe, I'm sure TR could be able to tell that their not talking about TR but rather TR, but I'm not sure that new comers will know that TR is acually a person, and the'll think that you name stands for Texas Ranger, and it doesn't. But I dont really care, If people want to TR fine, but if not it's only another 9 letters and a space more than I would have to type.

Stephen, when you say that you and some friends will get loaded and seeing Texas Rangers, I have to wonder what you mean. There are so many different meanings in that statement...

loaded as in drinking watered down rotgut

loaded as in fully armed and looking for a party/trouble

I don't think that the movie theater management will allow "rootin' tootin' six-gun shootin'" cowboys into the auditorium.

Remember, in the eyes of a ranger the unsuspecting stranger had better know the difference between wrong and right...

I know you meant TR, the person, but I was just saying that by loaded you meant drunk.

All right. I stand corrected. Still, when I read it in light of the TR/TR joke potential, I decided to apply it to the movie. Loaded cowboys, loaded guns... so many different modes of communication there.
